Navajo Wood Hauling

Hey there! When we see someone in need, it does no good to just say nice things to them, like, “Have a nice day!” or “Stay warm out there!” and then not even lift a finger to help provide for their physical needs. As Christians, we are compelled to live out our faith in Jesus by loving and serving others in tangible ways. So when we learned that 33% of the Navajo Nation is off the grid and the people there rely on firewood to heat their homes, we saw this as great opportunity. Many families do just fine gathering wood, but there are some who need help. That’s where we come in. We chop down wood, split it and distribute it to those who are in need on the Navajo Nation.

If you would like to serve those in need who can’t get wood for themselves anymore, we would love your help! You can either donate here: https://mtw.org/projects/navajo-wood-hauling OR if you’re in Flagstaff, come on out for a wood splitting event. SIGN UP HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Any questions, contact DH Henry – henrys.mtw@gmail.com.

Navajo Wood Hauling is a ministry of MTW. DH & Emily Henry have been serving the Navajo since 2015 and working with MTW since 2020.

“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?  If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?  So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

James 2:14-17

Navajo Nation former President Jonathan Nez and DH Henry worked together to recruit volunteers to join Navajo Wood Hauling.

Phoenix firefighter Brandon Othon and his sons run Family Tree Service LLC in Phoenix and Flagstaff. They have generously donated extra log and wood from their tree trimming service. Navajo Wood Hauling has been gathering loads of wood all summer long in preparation for splitting in the fall, and delivering wood in the winter. We are thankful for their partnership.
Andrew Scram from YWAM Tribal Winds and DH camped out in the Coconino National Forest and chopped down dead trees over the summer. We store the wood on YWAM’s base outside of Flagstaff where we hope to have many wood chopping events.
